La Mata — Mediterranean charm next to Torrevieja
La Mata is a picturesque coastal neighbourhood located north of Torrevieja, known for its peaceful atmosphere, wide beaches and proximity to the La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons Natural Park. Although it is part of the municipality, it retains the spirit of a small Mediterranean village, with quiet streets, cosy squares and local shops.

Beaches and nature 🌊
La Mata Beach is one of the longest on the Costa Blanca, with more than 2.3 km of golden sand and a width that allows you to enjoy it comfortably even in high season. It has been awarded the Blue Flag and has beach bars, play areas, wooden walkways and sun lounger hire.
The nearby Natural Park is a paradise for hiking and birdwatching enthusiasts, with signposted routes through salt flats, dunes and viewpoints.

In La Mata you will find supermarkets, a pharmacy, a health centre, bakeries, local shops and a good selection of bars and restaurants specialising in fresh fish. A very popular weekly market is held on Wednesdays.
Public transport connects La Mata with the centre of Torrevieja and nearby areas by regular bus services.
Housing and lifestyle 🏡
Apartments and flats with sea views predominate, although there are also gated communities with communal swimming pools. Prices are more affordable than in more touristy areas, which attracts buyers looking for good value for money.
